Yanga end Kigali tour on a high note

TANZANIA Premier League giants Young Africans (Yanga) concluded their Kigali tour on a high with a 2-1 winover last season’s MTN Peace Cup finalists Police FC in a friendly match yesterday at Stade de Kigali.

The home side, Police, scored the first goal through Fabrice Twagizimana’s header on 30th minute, but Stephano Mwasika’s strike on 56th minute put the Kagame cup holders back on level terms.

Skipper Nadir Haroub scored the winner 70th minute after a good set piece from Athuman Iddi. Yanga, who have been in Kigali for the last week, fly out of the country this morning with heads high after playing to perfection the two all friendly matches played in Kigali.

On Friday, they beat six-time Rwandan league champions Rayon Sports 2-0. All three teams were using the friendly matches to prepare for the new seasons in both countries.  The Rwandan league is scheduled to kick off on September 15; the Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League starts on September 1.
