LEO NIMEKUTANA NA 'REGEND' JUMA IKANGAA...!

Nilikutana nae mitaa ya kati, Kariakoo leo mchana. Nikamwambia kaka yangu Juma Ikaangaa, mshindi wa medali ya fedha Commonwealth games, Brisbane Australia, 1982, mshindi wa nafasi ya kwanza New York Marathon, na mshindi wa mara tatu Boston Marathon, kwamba leo mimi niko fiti zaidi kuliko yeye, tukianza mbio mimi na yeye, tutoke Kariakoo hadi Magomeni,basi, nitakuwa wa kwanza kufika Magomeni wakati yeye akihangaika Jangwani...!

Tuache utani, Juma Ikangaa ni mmoja wa wanariadha walioliletea taifa hili sifa kubwa na kuitangaza Tanzania. Nakumbuka mwaka 1982 nilisoma makala Daily News iliyonisisimua sana kuhusu alichokifanya Juma Ikangaa, Brisbane, Australia, kwenye michuano ya Madola. Mwandishi mzungu aliandika, kuwa kule Brisbane, kwa jinsi Ikangaa alivyokimbia, walimwita Juma Ikanga-kangaroo! Leo nilimkumbusha Ikangaa hilo, alifurahi sana.

Na nikamwuliza Ikangaaa, hivi kweli, hii leo kama nchi, mbona hatuonekani kuwa tuna safari ya kwenda Glasgow, Scotland, kwenye Commonwealth games inayoanza July 3, 2014. Halafu tutakuja kulaumiana kuwa tumepeleka watalii watakaorudi mikono mitupu, bila hata medali za mbao!

Ikangaa naye hakuwa na majibu, bali kuonyesha masikitiko yake kwa jinsi miaka hii kusivyokuwa na umakini katika maandalizi, kulinganisha na wakati wake.

Chama cha Mapinduzi leo kinazindua rasmi kampeni kwa ajili ya uchaguzi mdogo jimbo la Kalenga mkoani Iringa. Uzinduzi huo unatarajiwa kufanyika Ifunda kuanzia saa sita mchana. Mgeni rasmi katika uzinduzi huo ni Mwigulu Nchemba, Naibu Katibu Mkuu wa CCM Bara. Mgombea katika jimbo hilo lililoachwa wazi na Dk. William Mgimwa kufuatia kifo chake, ni Godfrey Mgimwa.

Mpatanishi mkuu wa Umoja wa Afrika kuhusu mgogoro wa Sudan,Thabo Mbeki anafanya ziara mjini Khartoum akiwa na lengo la kusaidia kutia msukumo katika juhudi za kutafuta amani kati ya serikali ya Sudan na SPLM-N.

Ziara hiyo ya Mbeki inafanyika kabla ya mazungumzo yanayotarajiwa kuanza tena mjini Ethiopia siku ya Ijumaa 28.02.2014.

Mpatanishi mkuu wa Umoja wa Afrika katika mgogoro wa Sudan Thabo Mbeki anaianza ziara yake hiyo ya mjini Khartoum ikiwa tayari serikali ya Sudan na waasi wa Kordofan Kusini wameridhia kusitisha mapigano na kuruhusu msaada kuwafikia zaidi ya watu milioni 1 kwa mujibu wa makubaliano yaliyopendekezwa kabla ya kuvunjika mazungumzo ya kusaka amani wiki iliyopita.Itakumbukwa kwamba katika mkutano huo wiki iliyopita,wajumbe wa Umoja wa Afrika waliwasilisha pendekezo hilo kwa serikali ya Khartoum na waasi hao wa kundi la SPLM-N kabla ya mazungumzo hayo ya mjini Adis Ababa kuakhirishwa kutokana na pande hizo mbili kutupiana lawama.

Mpatanishi mkuu,wiki iliyopita alisema wajumbe kutoka upande wa waasi na serikali watabidi kushauriana na kundi la wapatanishi kuhusiana na mapendekezo hayo ya Umoja wa Afrika ingawa pia hakutowa maelezo zaidi kuhusiana na suala hilo. Kimsingi sasa mazungumzo hayo yanasubiriwa kuanza tena tarehe 28 mwezi huu wa Februari. Katika kikao cha mwanzo mjini Adis mkuu wa ujumbe wa waasi Yassir Armen alisema serikali ya Sudan inataka kumaliza vita hivi bila ya kutowa suluhisho katika suala zima la hali ya kibinadamu na kisiasa.

Kwa upande wake serikali ya Khartoum inalishutumu kundi hilo la waasi wa SPLM-N kwa kuongeza masuala ambayo hayahusiani na migogoro ya Kordofan Kusini na jimbo la Blue Nile. Mgogoro na uhasama wa kikabila katika majimbo hayo mawili pamoja na uasi wa muda mrefu katika jimbo la Darfur yametokana na malalamiko ya kiuchumi pamoja na kutengwa kisiasa kwa majimbo hayo na utawala wa Khartoum unaohodhiwa na waarabu.

Ni kutokana na hali hii rais wa zamani wa Afrika Kusini ambaye sasa ni mpatanishi mkuu wa Umoja wa Afrika katika mzozo huu anataka kuzipa msukumo juhudi za kupatikana mwafaka wa amani baina ya pande hizo mbili zinazozana huku pia ukitarajiwa kufanyika mkutano wa tume ya pamoja ya Kimataifa iliyoundwa chini ya makubaliano ya amani ya mwaka 2011 kati ya Khartoum na muungano wa makundi ya waasi yaliyojitenga.Tume hiyo ilipewa jukumu la kufuatilia maendeleo ya makubaliano hayo.

Schalke 1-6 Real Madrid:

Gareth Bale was close to unplayable as Real Madrid all but sealed their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The £86million forward scored two and made two as Real ran riot against a poor Schalke side in Gelsenkirchen, winning 6-1 with ease.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Bale's performance after the match, describing it as his 'best game of the season'.

The nine-time winners had only won once before in 25 trips to Germany but victory was never in doubt at the Veltins-Arena with Real's most potent attacking weapons coming to the fore.

Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo also scored twice as an insatiable Madrid left Schalke requiring a miracle at the Bernabeu in three weeks time despite Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scoring the goal of the night in time added-on.

Schalke won a corner in the first minute and nearly took the lead but captain Benedikt Howedes' header from distance drifted wide of Iker Casillas' right-hand post.

Real were building pressure and Ronaldo was clearly keen to get in on the goalscoring act as he brought down an Angel Di Maria pass and surged forward but his shot from the edge of the area came back off the post and safely into the arms of Ralf Fahrmann.

The visitors were now looking a threat every time they came forward and Ronaldo looked certain to score as he latched onto Di Maria's through-ball but Fahrmann did well to save with his feet.

Schalke were under fire as the break approached as first Benzema fired wide from Marcelo's cross and Fahrmann made another close-range save from Ronaldo but they made it to the interval without sustaining further damage.

Ronaldo was not to be outdone and had his brace in the 88th minute as substitute Isco and Benzema combined to release him and he calmly slotted past the keeper.There was still time for former Real striker Huntelaar to net a stunning consolation when he volleyed home from the edge of the area after Christian Fuchs' cross to see Casillas beaten for the first time in 10 appearances, but it is likely to be of little consequence.After the game Schalke captain Howedes said: ‘Cristiano Ronaldo was everywhere. We saw exactly why he’s the World Footballer of the Year.’

Schalke boss Jens Keller was left to rue a series of mistakes by his side, including Draxler's missed header in the first half.

He said: ‘We knew that Real would use the space we would give them after they scored the opener and they simply punished us for every mistake we made. We are a young team who still have lots to learn at this level.

‘We had a good start, played bravely until we conceded the opener. A mistake allowed Real to score the opener but we immediately had the chance for the equaliser.

‘These types of chances don’t come along that often against a side like Real.

Wrong foot? I don't have a wrong foot! Zlatan typically cool after wonder goal in rout of Leverkusen

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored another stunner to add to his back catalogue, but was typically blasé when asked about it afterwards.

The Swede thundered a third Paris Saint-Germain goal in the 4-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday that could have taken the roof off.

It was Ibrahimovic's ninth goal in five Champions League fixtures this year and he looks set to add to that as the French club seem likely to progress to the quarter-finals.
