Maiga arrives for medical as Newcastle edge closer to completing £7m swoop

Newcastle's bid to sign Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga could be completed today if the 24-year-old passes a medical.
Maiga will arrive on Tyneside for his final examination before penning his £7million switch from the Ligue 1 side.
The Mali international has made no secret of his desire to move to St James' Park and can now plan for life in the Premier league after being given to nod to move by his club.

Maiga even went on strike after a planned move before the summer transfer deadline fell through and last month he declared his willingness to wait for the move to materialise. 
He said: 'All players dream of playing for a club like that and I hope it will happen, either this winter or in the summer.'
However, Toon fans may have to wait to see him play as he will be playing for Mali in the African Nations Cup.
