Manchester United gave Arsenal a masterclass at Old Trafford as they ran out emphatic 8-2 winners.
Danny Welbeck opened the scoring midway through the first half before Robin van Persie missed a penalty for the visitors.
Ashley Young doubled United's advantage before Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott traded strikes before the break.
The home side put the game beyond Arsenal in the second half as Rooney, Nani and Park Ji-sung found the net.
Van Persie scored his side's second with 15 minutes later but it proved to be nothing more than a scant consolation.
Carl Jenkinson was then sent off for a second bookable offence when he bundled over Javier Hernandez on the edge of the box.
And Rooney completed his hat-trick from the spot when Walcott clipped Nani in the area before Young rounded off the rout with a exquisite curling effort.
