Belgium international Romelu Lukaku arrived at St Pancras station ahead of his medical at Chelsea on Monday. The Blues reached a deal to sign the 18-year-old striker from Anderlecht at the weekend.
Lukaku, who travelled to London by Eurostar from Brussels, scored 16 goals in 37 league appearances last season and has netted twice in two games in the current campaign.
Asked about Blues manager Andre Villas Boas, he said: "He's a good man."
Lukaku has won comparisons with current Chelsea striker Didier Drogba for his power and finishing.
He made his first-team debut at Anderlecht when he was 16 and has averaged almost a goal every two games in the Jupiler League.
His goals helped Anderlecht win the Belgian title in 2010 and he scored three times in the Champions League qualifying round last season, although the team went out before the group stage.
Lukaku, whose father Roger played for Zaire in the 1990s, has won 10 caps for Belgium, scoring two goals.
